Monday's cash open did not confirm the weekend's soft patch — it undid it. BTC/USDT on Crypto.com Exchange slid to **$62,295.78** in the 08:00 UTC hour, then turned and tagged **$63,999.99** into the afternoon. As of about **15:06 UTC** on **August 3** the pair last traded near **$63,822**, roughly **$249** above Sunday's settle and about **$1,530** off the morning low. That mark is **intraday** on a still-forming daily candle, not a settled close.

The turn landed in the first U.S. cash session of August, three days after [Farside Investors](https://farside.co.uk/btc/) logged **−$265.4 million** of net redemptions from U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs on **July 31** — the heaviest single session of that week, with IBIT (**−$122.7M**), FBTC (**−$54.8M**), GBTC (**−$52.6M**), BITB (**−$17.8M**) and ARKB (**−$17.5M**) all redeeming. August's first Farside line is still blank.

## The settled ladder, then Monday's round trip

Four settled closes frame the move. Thursday finished **$64,775.46**. Friday broke to **$62,897.98** after tagging **$65,411.23** intraday — the cash flush that set the tone. Saturday drifted to **$62,823.63**, a soft **$74** lower. Sunday reclaimed about **$750** to settle **$63,573.12**.

Neither weekend day can produce a Farside line. Primary markets for U.S. equity wrappers are closed Saturday and Sunday, so creations and redemptions simply do not print; the last product-table entry stays Friday's. Monday is the first session that can change that ledger, and [Farside](https://farside.co.uk/btc/) will update once the U.S. cash day works through. Until then the readable instruments are spot and mood, not a fresh flow total.

Monday's range tells the sharper story. The **$62,296–$64,000** span is the widest daily range since Friday's flush — Saturday covered about **$899**, Sunday about **$994**. Spot spent the weekend grinding inside a narrow band and then moved through the whole thing in a single session once desks reopened.

Ethereum made the same trip without finishing it. ETH/USDT settled **$1,862.50** Friday, **$1,844.85** Saturday and **$1,885.06** Sunday, then bottomed at **$1,828.79** early Monday and recovered to about **$1,866** — still roughly **$19** short of Sunday's settle. Bitcoin cleared its weekend close on the reclaim; ether has not.

## July was barely green; the week ended red

Monthly context still frames the open. [Cointelegraph, citing SoSoValue](https://www.tradingview.com/news/cointelegraph:cb39b833d094b:0-bitcoin-etfs-end-july-in-the-green-despite-late-month-selling/), puts July U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF net inflows near **$172.4 million** — the first green month after two months of outflows, and a thin print next to June's roughly **$4.5 billion** drain. The week ending July 31 ran about **−$61.5 million** after three prior green weeks, and cumulative 2026 net outflows still sit near **$5.3 billion** against lifetime net creations near **$51.3 billion** on the same recap.

Stack the late-July turns for scale. July 29 printed **+$32.1 million**. July 30 printed **+$233.1 million**. July 31 printed **−$265.4 million** and nearly erased both creation days in one session. Spot mapped the same step down, and Monday has now walked part of it back. Primary-market flow measures share creations and redemptions, not every secondary trade — which is exactly why a spot reclaim can run ahead of any flow print, and why it doesn't stand in for one.

## Chart: the dip and the reclaim

The series pairs settled daily closes (and Monday's still-forming candle) with the [Crypto Fear & Greed Index](https://alternative.me/crypto/fear-and-greed-index/). Price stepped down into Friday's settle, flattened Saturday, reclaimed into Sunday, and extends that reclaim on Monday's open session.

*BTC price vs the Crypto Fear & Greed Index, July 27–August 3. The August 3 point is an intraday read as of ~15:06 UTC, not a settled close. Sources: [Crypto.com Exchange](https://crypto.com/exchange) 1D candles and [alternative.me](https://alternative.me/crypto/fear-and-greed-index/).*

Mood has barely followed. The composite sat at **25** (Extreme Fear) on July 31, **27** (Fear) on both August 1 and August 2, and **28** (Fear) on August 3. A three-point climb out of Extreme Fear is a small thaw, not a risk-on regime — and the index still reads Fear on a day BTC touched $64,000. Sentiment is lagging the tape, which is what usually happens when a bounce arrives faster than conviction.

## What Monday is actually testing

The clean read is **whether a spot-led reclaim survives contact with the flow print**, not a new catalyst. Sunday's settle looked like the upper half of the weekend band; Monday has cleared it and reached toward the top of the range while the first August Farside line remains unwritten. That is a bid without a confirmation.

Nothing in this tape forecasts that print. Redemptions can reopen as fast as Friday's closed the two-day green streak, and an intraday mark near **$63,822** can finish Monday above or below where it sits now. For now the instruments stay separate and legible: last settled cash day **−$265.4 million** (July 31), last settled spot day **$63,573** (August 2), open Monday session near **$63,822** after a **$62,296** low and a **$64,000** tag, Fear & Greed at **28**. Description only, not a recommendation — treat the reclaim as a cash-session data point, not a verdict on August.
