Ten of the twelve U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs printed a zero. The other two redeemed. [Farside Investors](https://farside.co.uk/btc/) logged a **−$61.1 million** net outflow on **August 12**, a two-fund redemption session that erased Tuesday's thin [+$7.8 million restart](/en/posts/2026-08-12-etf-inflow-8m-aug-11-ibit-carries/). The same cash day, the [U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics](https://www.bls.gov/news.release/cpi.nr0.htm) reported July consumer prices up **3.4%** from a year earlier.

## Two funds, ten blanks

Walk Wednesday's table, fund by fund. BlackRock's IBIT redeemed **−$14.3 million**. Fidelity's FBTC redeemed **−$46.8 million**. Bitwise's BITB, ARK 21Shares' ARKB, Invesco, Franklin's EZBC, Valkyrie, VanEck's HODL, WisdomTree, Morgan Stanley, and both Grayscale lines all printed **0.0**. That is a different shape from [Monday's −$144.6 million](/en/posts/2026-08-11-etf-outflow-145m-aug-10-streak-ends/), when IBIT, GBTC, FBTC, and BITB redeemed together, and from Tuesday, when IBIT created **+$50.2 million** and was the only large green column. Wednesday had no creation line at all.

Primary-market flow counts authorized-participant creations and redemptions of ETF shares, not every secondary trade on the tape. A **−$61.1 million** day after a **+$7.8 million** day is a second red session in three cash days. It is a much smaller print than last week's **$100 million-plus** creations. Across August 10–12 the complex is about **$197.9 million** net negative. From the August 3 reopen through Wednesday it is still about **$667.4 million** net positive: **$865.3 million** of creations, then **−$144.6 million**, **+$7.8 million**, and **−$61.1 million**. Farside's lifetime total sits near **$52.0 billion**.

[CoinGlass's Bitcoin ETF flow table](https://www.coinglass.com/etf/bitcoin) tracked Wednesday near **961 BTC** of net fund outflow, consistent with a $61 million print at a mid-$63K coin.

## CPI eased a tenth; the products still redeemed

The [July CPI-U](https://www.bls.gov/news.release/cpi.nr0.htm) rose **0.1%** month over month after June's **0.4%** drop, and **3.4%** over twelve months after June's **3.5%**. The index excluding food and energy rose **0.2%** on the month and **2.5%** on the year. Shelter did most of the monthly work. Energy fell **1.5%** in July and is still **14.7%** higher than a year earlier. That release hit at 8:30 a.m. Eastern on Wednesday, inside the same cash session as the ETF table.

[CoinDesk](https://www.coindesk.com/markets/2026/08/13/bitcoin-slips-near-usd63-500-as-traders-look-past-cpi-to-fed-s-next-tests) called the figure in-line and said bitcoin slipped toward **$63,500** afterward, with attention already moving on to later Federal Reserve tests. Authorized participants can redeem stock on a day inflation eases a tenth. The product table does not have to treat every CPI print as a bid for shares.

Ethereum products went the other way. [Farside's ETH table](https://farside.co.uk/eth/) printed a **+$7.4 million** net inflow on August 12, the entire amount in BlackRock's ETHA, with every other ETH product at **0.0**. Bitcoin products redeemed; Ethereum products created a little. That is Wednesday's mix, read as a one-day split.

## A third softer settle, then a Thursday round trip

Settled Crypto.com 1D closes mark the steps. Monday **August 10** closed **$63,974.44**. Tuesday closed **$63,592.62**. Wednesday settled **$63,488.10**, another **$105** under Tuesday and the third consecutive softer cash-day close. Friday **August 7** had been **$64,927.10**; from that settle the three cash sessions gave back about **$1,439**.

Thursday's candle is still forming, and it has already gone both ways. BTC/USDT opened the UTC day at **$63,484.56**, printed **$64,017.77** in the 05:00 UTC hour, then handed the move back: as of about **16:01 UTC** on **August 13** it last traded near **$63,449** on [Crypto.com Exchange](https://crypto.com/exchange), roughly **$39** under Wednesday's settle. That Thursday mark is **intraday**; the August 13 1D bar does not settle until 00:00 UTC. Ethereum settled Wednesday at **$1,879.79** after Tuesday's **$1,882.69**, and traded near **$1,880** at the same snapshot.

## Chart: three softer cash settles, Fear still low

The series pairs settled daily closes (and Thursday's still-forming candle) with the [Crypto Fear & Greed Index](https://alternative.me/crypto/fear-and-greed-index/). Price stepped down through Monday's outflow, Tuesday's thin creation day, and Wednesday's two-fund redemption, then Thursday's intraday mark round-trips back to just under Wednesday's settle while the mood gauge stays in Fear.

*BTC price vs the Crypto Fear & Greed Index, August 6–13. Price eased through three cash sessions; Thursday's still-open candle reached $64,018 before slipping back under Wednesday's $63,488 settle. The August 13 point is an intraday read as of ~16:01 UTC, not a settled close. Sources: [Crypto.com Exchange](https://crypto.com/exchange) 1D candles and [alternative.me](https://alternative.me/crypto/fear-and-greed-index/).*

The composite sat at **27** (Fear) on Wednesday and **29** (still Fear) on Thursday. Two points back toward the high 20s after a week spent between **25** and **31**. The product table can flip from a one-fund creation day to a two-fund redemption day without the mood gauge leaving Fear.

## What Wednesday's table actually changed

Last week's five green sessions still dwarf this week's two red ones. The new line on the board is narrower: a **−$61.1 million** Wednesday carried only by IBIT and FBTC, a third softer daily settle at **$63,488**, a **3.4%** CPI print in the same session, and a Thursday tape that probed **$64,018** and slipped back under that settle with Fear at **29**. The next Farside row will either add a third red day or put a creation back on the sheet. This describes what printed. It is not a forecast and not financial advice.
