Wednesday put up August’s largest product day, and the coin left the $64,000s on the same UTC session. Farside Investors printed a +$517.2 million net inflow into U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs on August 19. BlackRock’s IBIT created $284.7 million. On Crypto.com Exchange the 1D candle for that day ran $64,161.79–$70,074.72 and settled $69,337.54.
Eight columns, no reds
Walk the row. IBIT +$284.7 million. ARK 21Shares’ ARKB +$77.7 million, posted as $77.7 million. Fidelity’s FBTC +$62.4 million. Bitwise’s BITB +$35.6 million. Grayscale’s GBTC +$21.2 million and the mini BTC +$19.7 million. Morgan Stanley’s MSBT +$10.0 million. Franklin’s EZBC +$5.9 million. Invesco, Valkyrie, VanEck, and WisdomTree printed 0.0. Nothing redeemed.
IBIT is 55 percent of the net, a wider mix than Tuesday, when the same product did 76 percent of a $189.3 million sheet and VanEck’s HODL was the only red. GBTC creating is the odd column: that line is still −$27.5 billion for the life of the table.
Farside’s bundled August 19 card printed a 454.8 total with FBTC still a dash. The FBTC card is 62.4. Add those and you get the live table’s 517.2. Trading Economics, reading the same Farside row, has the complex at $517 million.
Ethereum products did their own fat day. Farside’s ETH table shows +$186.8 million. ETHA created $122.1 million. Fidelity’s FETH +$36.5 million, Grayscale’s mini ETH +$16.0 million, BlackRock’s ETHB +$9.7 million, ETHE +$1.7 million, Franklin’s EZET +$0.8 million. The rest printed 0.0. The ETH total card matches 186.8.
Three cash days, a billion
Monday’s revised row is +$297.5 million. Tuesday is +$189.3 million. Wednesday is +$517.2 million. Three sessions: $1,004.0 million. That more than covers the August 10–14 stretch of $385.2 million in net redemptions, and it sits on top of the first week’s $865.3 million of creations. From the August 3 reopen through Wednesday the complex is about $1,484.1 million net positive. Farside’s lifetime total is $52.86 billion.
Wednesday is the largest daily print of August, ahead of Monday’s $297.5 million.
BlackRock’s IBIT product page put Wednesday’s NAV at $38.69, up $2.06 or 5.63 percent, with net assets about $51.3 billion. The benchmark on that page, the CME CF Bitcoin Reference Rate New York Variant, printed $68,324.95. That NY cash fix is a different clock from Crypto.com’s UTC 1D settle of $69,337.54. The coin kept running after the cash close.
The $64,000 box broke
Settled 1D closes on Crypto.com mark the path. Tuesday August 18 locked $64,724.81 inside $64,035.17–$65,061.81. Wednesday opened on that print, tagged $70,074.72, and settled $69,337.54, about $4,613 above Tuesday. Ethereum settled Tuesday at $1,917.75 and Wednesday at $2,253.00, after a session high of $2,336.25.
The same afternoon the U.S. Treasury said it will at least double liquidity-support buybacks in the 10- to 20-year and 20- to 30-year nominal coupon sectors, from a $2 billion cap per operation to at least $4 billion, effective September 9 through November 4. The 10-year yield, 4.71 percent on Tuesday per YCharts, printed 4.65 percent on Wednesday. CNBC had the 30-year off more than 10 basis points, to 5.184 percent, after Tuesday’s push above 5.33 percent.
Forced covering ran with the tape. CoinGlass 24-hour windows are rolling, not a settled close. CryptoBriefing, reading that board, had about $2.98 billion liquidated and $2.74 billion of that on shorts.
Thursday’s candle is still forming. BTC/USDT opened the UTC day at Wednesday’s settle and, as of about 10:23 UTC on August 20, last traded near $72,182 on Crypto.com Exchange, after a session high of $72,488.58. That last is intraday. Ethereum traded near $2,287 at the same snapshot.
The series pairs settled daily closes (and Thursday’s still-forming candle) with the Crypto Fear & Greed Index. Price spent the prior week in the low-to-mid $63,000s, Monday and Tuesday rebuilt the $64,000s, Wednesday tagged $70,000, and Thursday’s open session has added a couple of thousand more while the mood gauge left Fear.
BTC price vs the Crypto Fear & Greed Index, August 13–20. Wednesday settled $69,338 after tagging $70,075. Thursday’s still-open candle is an intraday read as of ~10:23 UTC, not a settled close. Sources: Crypto.com Exchange 1D candles and alternative.me.
The composite sat at 31 (Fear) on Monday, 41 on Tuesday, 46 on Wednesday, and 62 (Greed) on Thursday. That is the first Greed print in this window.
Wednesday’s $517.2 million is a completed product day. Thursday’s last is still moving. Neither figure is a reason to buy or sell the funds or the coin.
