Revolut began a phased rollout of EURR, its first euro-pegged stablecoin, to eligible customers in Denmark, Poland and Portugal, with a wider European Economic Area launch planned later in 2026.

What shipped

Coverage on 26–27 August 2026 confirmed the live start after Revolut’s early-August blog teased a three-country test. Blockhead and CoinDesk both put the token on Ethereum at launch, with further networks and external-wallet transfers to follow. CryptoPotato is the outlier: it dates the public offer to 20 August and lists Polygon alongside Ethereum. Treat the single-chain start as the better-supported reading. Revolut X is named as a second distribution channel, and Solana, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche, Injective, TON and Sui are described as planned.

EURR is designed to hold €1.00. Eligible users can move between euros, crypto and (as support expands) external wallets without first routing through a dollar stablecoin. Revolut frames that as an on-chain euro rail inside the retail app its customers already use.

The company is the distributor, not the issuer. Bridge Building S.A., the Luxembourg entity of Stripe-owned Bridge, issues the token under MiCA as an e-money token (EMT). Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd offers it under its own CySEC MiCA CASP licence. Bridge’s reserves page for Revolut Euro (EURR), last updated 26 August 2026, showed 369 EURR in circulation, fully backed by €369 in cash deposits at credit institutions: a tiny float that matches a controlled pilot, not a mature market.

Watch the ticker name. StablR already lists a separate MiCA euro stablecoin under the same EURR symbol on CoinGecko. Revolut’s product is the Bridge-issued token branded inside the Revolut app; do not confuse the two.

Why the timing lines up with the USDT exit

This desk covered the setup in July: Europe’s MiCA transition ended 1 July 2026, and Revolut began phasing Tether’s USDT out of its European retail stack. Blockhead reports the remaining USDT balances in the EEA and Switzerland are set to clear by 31 August 2026, completing a purchase freeze and deposit block that started in July. Tether has not sought MiCA authorisation for USDT as an EMT, so licensed platforms have been pruning it.

EURR is the replacement product for euro-balance customers who still want an on-chain dollar-alternative pegged to their local unit of account. Circle’s EURC and several bank-linked euro tokens already sit in that niche; Revolut’s edge is distribution into a claimed 80 million-plus retail base rather than inventing a new crypto-native audience from scratch. Those customer and volume figures are Revolut’s claims.

Licensed euros in Europe, USDT rails in LatAm

Day-to-day USDT and USDC rails in Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and Panama do not change because of a Danish or Portuguese app flag. The useful signal is the regulatory split this desk flagged in July: Europe is standardising on licensed EMTs inside CASP apps, while LatAm still runs most settlement on USDT through Pix, SPEI and local VASPs.

If you hold euros in Revolut while living or working across both regions, the practical checklist is narrow. Confirm whether your account is in the Denmark/Poland/Portugal cohort before assuming EURR is live. Treat the August 31 USDT deadline as a hard calendar item if any balance still sits on Revolut Europe. Prefer withdrawing to a wallet you control over waiting for an automatic conversion. And when you see “EURR” on a chart or bridge UI, check the issuer (Bridge/Revolut versus StablR) before moving size.

Self-custody still does the job MiCA cannot: when a platform delists a token on a short clock, the exit that works is keys you hold. EURR inside Revolut remains a product on a licensed app, with issuer redemption rights against Bridge subject to terms, not a bank deposit and not a substitute for long-term holdings off-platform.

What to watch next

Three checkpoints will show whether EURR is a real euro rail or a compliance placeholder:

  1. Wider EEA unlock. Dates and countries beyond the first three, with published eligibility rules.
  2. External-wallet transfers. When send-to-self-custody leaves “coming soon” and hits production on the listed chains.
  3. Float and reserves. Whether circulating supply climbs past pilot scale while Bridge’s cash/HLFI mix stays transparent on the reserves page.

Takeaway

On 26 August 2026 Revolut put EURR live for a select group in Denmark, Poland and Portugal: a Bridge-issued, MiCA-licensed euro stablecoin inside the Revolut app, arriving days before USDT fully leaves its EEA and Swiss retail stack.

If you use Revolut in Europe, check your country cohort and clear any leftover USDT before 31 August. If you live on LatAm dollar stables, treat this as a regulatory precedent worth watching, not a reason to change how you move money tomorrow. This is product reporting, not a recommendation to hold EURR, USDT or any other token.
